- NET-MINDER - CLARIFICATION
This has become somewhat complicated to new users. So I'm going to
explain. Net-Mind is part of Net-Minder, names familiar to some of
you.
In a message below, dated July 30, 1998, it was made known that Net-Minder
had been added to this Home Page. It is a notification service for those
registered with it. It will automatically notify you of updates in a
specifc Web site. You must first list with Net-Minder the URL of the Web
site, however.
You need a password to access Net-Mind. If Net-Mind is new to you
then to use it you first must register your E-mail address, together with
a password that you create (make it up). If you already have registered
with Net-Mind, then you already will have a password that you can give to
them. The trick is remembering it. It's your secret key to gain access
to your account. Of course, for your protection, your password keeps
others out of your account.
So from this Web site, you can open a Net-Minder account, if you don't
have one. All they need is your E-mail address and a password you
create. Then you can add the URL for one or more Web sites, including that
for this Peery Family History Home Page. Remember, each time you
wish to access your Net-Minder account, you will be asked for your
password. That works for adding or removing Web sites to/from your list
of URLs in Net-Minder.
We consider Net-Mind a worthwhile service. It is provided as an option to
our visitors. We encourage those interested in following our Web site to
sign up with Net-Minder for notification of updates. You can do it at
the location near the end of this Web site, just below the numerical
Web-Counter.

- MAINTENANCE UPDATE - 2
Formerly linked graphics and background files have now been added to my
HTML directory. ALL respective URL addresses have been changed.
Photographs have been brought in and checked. Checking
to ensure all the graphics and files are working will be ongoing.
Sometimes access to a file will be denied with a 404 Error being shown on
your screen. Usually that means I have setup a location, but have not
linked the underlying file, which is not ready. The Cemeteries -
Where Peerys Are Buried section has several of those. Writing in the
name of a particular county or cemetery ensures it will not be forgotten.
In such a case, a 404 Error usually means the file is in backlog requiring
editing before it can be connected. It is a matter of time before the
work will be done.
[Sun, Jun 7, 1998 -- PDPeery]
- MAINTENANCE UPDATE - 1
During the first quarter 1998, my ISP changed its e-mail software, which
included a change in my Home Page access. The new name is INDEX.HTML,
replacing the old name HOME.HTML. While I made the change for visitors to
access my Web page, I didn't realize until yesterday that I needed to
change ALL the HOME.HTML entries in the link "Return to Home Page"
(found at the bottom of each page) to INDEX.HTML . I went right to it and
completed it today. It involved nearly every page in the Peery Family
History Home Page. The link in each one should work now. I have not
tested everyone, however. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have
caused.
[Mon, Jun 1, 1998 -- PDPeery]
- TAZEWELL COUNTY, VIRGINIA
Today links were added to the Tazewell County, Virginia section of
this Web
site. They include 1) Tazewell County Map (nice, in color); 2) The
Business Journal of Tri-Counties in Tennessee/Virginia; 3) Tazewell
County's Electronic Village; and 4) the Tazewell County Historical
Society's new Home Page.

- PL BOYER'S HOME PAGE
Penny L. (Russell) Boyer has announced her own Web site, "The PL Boyer's
Home Page." It has been linked to this Web site under the Peery
Cousins Online section. It is included in PCO member home pages
listing.
[Mon, May 18, 1998 -- PDPeery]
- REALIGNING HOME PAGE
Transferring files directly to my directory for Home Page files is in
process. Complications have occurred in moving downloaded files from
Windows 95 to the UNIX and Pine operations at my ISP, which are reached
via Telnet. The change is being done because certain links to graphics and
photographs would otherwise may be lost if the ISP currently holding
them were to shutdown.
[Fri, May 15, 1998 -- PDPeery]
- PCO NEWSLETTER SCHEDULE
The schedule has been updated and placed in the Peery Cousins

- TAZEWELL COUNTY, SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA
Work has been done on the Tazewell County, Virginia section of the
Home Page to bring uniformity to the format of the sub-pages. This has
needed attention for some time. Further updates may be expected. Tazewell
County is an important early location for Peerys. Many with this surname
today have ancestry who lived in Tazewell and surrounding counties in
Southwest Virginia. Peery ancestry may be found in many other Virginia
counties as well, but Tazewell stands out. Many Peery generations resided
there beginning in the latter half of the eighteenth century. A number
of Tazewell cemeteries containing Peery graves are listed in the
Cemeteries - Where Peerys Are Buried section of this Web site.

- UNION CEMETERY
The Union Cemetery, located in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, is
where Francis Theodore Peery and many members of his family are buried.
Information is now located in the Cemeteries - Where Peerys Are
Buried section of this Home Page. It was provided by Douglas Lusher, a
great-grandson of Francis Theodore Peery, who descends from Thomas Peery
#1.
[Sun, Dec 7, 1997 -- PDPeery]
- BROWN CEMETERY
The Brown Cemetery, located in Lewis County, Tennessee, where many
Peery graves are located, has been added to the Cemeteries - Where
Peerys Are Buried section of this Web page. It will be found under
the
state of Tennessee. The information was provided by James W. Brown, Jr., a
5th great-grandson of George Peery #1.
[Thur, Dec 4, 1997 -- PDPeery]
- CEMETERIES
Further refinements were made in the Cemeteries - Where Peerys Are
Buried section of this Web Page today.
[Sun, Nov 30, 1997 -- PDPeery]
- PEERY-L - E-MAIL RESEARCH QUERIES - HAS STARTED
Today the long-standing proposed PEERY-L E-mail query mailing list has
been activated on this Web page. Its purpose is to provide a forum for
Peery research assistance. It may be accessed at three different
locations on this Home Page, all linked to the file:
- Home Page, in the information section (Table of Contents,
What's New?, Announcements, Guest Book and PEERY-L)
- Table of Contents, as above.
- Peery Family Histories & Genealogies, in the section at the top.
PEERY-L is open to all interested persons who visit this Web site.
Selected E-mail queries, requesting research assistance for Peery
ancestry will be edited and placed there. To begin, a slow rampup will
be pursued. Changes and adjustments may be expected as experience along
the learning curve suggests. Separately, PEERY-L may yet be used for an
active mailing list, which was the original intent. It would be expected
that as a mailing list it would be more active and with much less
editing. There is a subscribers distribution list. To subscribe send
a message with your name to Subscribe to
PEERY-L

- CEMETERIES
Refinements have been made in the layout of the Cemetery listings.
Further work remains regarding background colors. Additional data content
will be entered as time permits. Persons submitting cemetery information
are requested to provide the exact name and location of the cemetery and
directions on how to get there. Written (textual) additional family
information can add interest and value to the site. Thanks to those who
are participating in this aspect of this Web page.

reading are part of the process. Physical changes have been implemented

done.
