Grundy County, Missouri
Grundy County is one the locations where those who emigrated from Tazewell
County and perhaps other parts of Virginia settled. Peerys were well
represented there.

Page 139: Pioneers, 1835: George Peery and his sons Wiliam, Archibald and a
daughter Louisa. There were three other Peerys, Evan and his son, William N.,
and a Thomas Peery.
Page 159: Names of Old Settlers, 1 Jan. 1841: Robert Peery, Evans Peery
Page 201: First Deed of Record: 18 Mar.. 1841, George Peery and Jane Peery,
his wife to Milton L. Moore.
Page 463: Bio: Stephen Perry born on a farm near Jonesville, Lee Co., VA,
23 June 1836, moved to Missouri with his parents in 1838, married Miss Emma
Hendrick of Trenton in 1858.
Page 557: Old Settlers: The rush of 1835 was a fair one for Madison
township. That year came George Peery with his wife and three children, two
of whom are living -- Dr. Archibald Peery and Mrs. Louisa Moore....Then came
Evans Peery and his son, Wm. N. Peery, and Robert Peery...
Page 559: First wedding in Madison Township 6 Apr 1837, Milton L. Moore to
Miss Louisa Peery, daughter of George.
Page 588: Lauvisa Peery was born in Tazewell Co., VA 17 Dec. 1811, where she
resided until she was about 24 years of age when she came to MO. Her
husband, Milton L. Moore, was born in Tazewell Co., VA 6 June 1807, where he
lived about 23 years.
Page 592: Archibald Peery was born in Tazewell Co., VA 15 Dec. 1818, son of
George. Married Miss Elizabeth A. Kirk, in 1851. Physician.
Page 592: William H. Peery born in Tazewell Co., VA, 1828. His father moved
to Montgomery Co., VA when he was an infant. Moved to Missouri in 1836.
Married Miss Nancy Jane Witten, in 1853. (The Wittens also from Tazewell
Co.)
Page 616: John O. Buren born 1851, St. Louis Co., MO, son of John J. Buren
and Cosby Peery. His mother was a native of Tazewell Co., VA and one of
twelve children, all of whom lived to be over 70 years of age, and is not the
only surviving member of the family, in her 73rd year.
