  1. IRELAND'S EYE
A new weekly online magazine has been linked to this Web site at the "Helpful Research Sources" section, in Part 3, "Significant Genealogy Web Sites." Click on Ireland's Eye and see the material provided by Appletree Press, publisher of this new site. This has been brought to my attention by John Murphy, publisher, who saw my comments in the The Belfast Telegraph Online site that I posted in mid-October.

Appletree is Ireland's leading publisher of Guide's and Gift Books, in businesss for over twenty-years. Bookstore provides a group of books that will interest those with Irish backgrounds. Tracing Your Irish Roots is a helpful section for researchers. Irish Genealogy and resources will make your visit worthwhile. A Family Names sub-section is very popular. For a bit of fun, Kiss the Virtual Blarney Stone and Recipes will appeal to many of you.

I visited The Irish Art Slide Show, an automated presentation of twenty-eight works of Irish artists. The artists name, birth/death years, one or more of his art pieces, together with a description, all make for a neatly packaged presentation. Great for those with art interests.

Other sections are And Get the Gift of the Gab, Eat-Drink-Sleep (Pubs, B&Bs, Recipes), Where to Visit (Castles, Houses, Gardens, Museums), and Tradition (Names, Heritage, History), add to the balance in the overall presentation. Additional material, however, is shown in each each issue along with a searchable database of articles that have appeared previously. New features and content are added on a regular basis. The publication is updated every Friday.

Ireland's Eye is a growing resource for Northern Ireland: Irish travel, tradition, history and culture. For where to find Irish genealogy resources, this site lists places with supporting information. It all comes to the Net from Belfast, Ireland. Learn more about it from this Web site and sites of the various Irish newspapers listed below.

  5. PEERY'S BURIED IN BROWN CEMETERY
PCO member, James W. Brown, Jr., sent information from the Brown Cemetery, located in Lewis County, Tennessee. There are many Peery's buried there. The data will be added to this home page. The cemetery is located on the farm where he was raised and which the family still owns.

  9. PEERY-L
This is a new idea that has been pending for some time. Originally aimed at processing e-mail in the form of a mailing list, it is now going to be tested as an addition to this Web site. Selected e-mail messages will begin to appear under PEERY-L, located just under the Guest Book listing. I tend to exclude any dates pertaining to living persons for privacy reasons on the Internet. Messages I receive for the Newsletter sometimes include such personal data. So, with that one proviso, I will test this out under PEERY-L and see how it goes. In short, PEERY-L is a query location for messages to be received from and to persons seeking assistance in their family searches. E-mail messages for this purpose can be sent to Editor - Peery Family History Home Page. This is the same address for the Newsletter.

  10. FAMILY NEWSLETTER
Many members of Peery Cousins Online participate in the preparation and publishing of Newsletters. They may be publishers, editors, contributors, involved with production and distribution, or a combination of all of these. A dedicated editor is necessary to produce a quality product. The time required for a non-profit publication can be more than bargained for. The editor usually enjoys the work as a hobby. Gathering information through research is a process. To end up with lots of data for ones own benefit is good. To want to share that same information with others is the motivation behind taking on a Newsletter.

Steve Jamison is the Editor/Publisher of the Family Newsletter , a quarterly that is distributed to descendants of Jefferson Davis Jamison and Nancy Loucinda Peery. The Fall, 1997 issue, Vol. 4, Number 1, is 20 pages long, measuring 6 x 8 1/2 inches. It is well laid out, organized with a logo heading on the front, a helpful table of contents, and a mix of textual content. Graphics include photographs with captions, drawings and symbols. Side bars are used to provide parenthetical subject matter.

Steve's emphasis is on the family today and yesterday. So the reader can enjoy Letters to the Editor, Graduations, Recent Arrivals, Newsletter Angel, Newlyweds, plus extensive personal histories provided by different family members. This is a wonderful way to get to know other family members better, further solidifying the relationship. Information truly makes a difference. With such human interest histories, including stories found in each issue, readers can always look forward to what might be found in the next quarterly issue.

While Steve is the chief pot and bottle washer on this effort, his wife, ......., helps with the publication. She not only writes for the Newsletter, she does some editing, and takes part as necessary to assist in producing an enjoyable issue. The satisfaction gained from delighted readers is what motivates Steve to continue this arduous effort, for it truly can become such over time as the novelty wears off.

Content from the family members is most important. Otherwise, Steve is in a position of having to work diligently to meet a production deadline by researching for information to fill the space in the Newsletter. For information on how to subscribe to this publication, contact Steve at Editor - Family Newsletter.

  11. CEMETERIES
For those interested in where Peerys are buried, extensive setup work has been done in the "Cemeteries" section of this Web site. The page levels go from State to County to Cemetery. Information regarding the location, directions on how to find the cemetery, and more is included. In most cases the information is name, birth and death dates. Occasionally, added information about a specific person will be included.

Long ago, families tended to remain in a locale for long periods of time. Generations were represented in the local cemetery, often a private cemetery for a particular family. Today, with high mobility among our population, the chance for family members being buried together in a family cemetery are reduced. It would not be uncommon to find siblings buried in different states across the country, stretching from New York to California.

Those who submit cemetery information to this Web site, will help others further by including a note where other members of a particular family are buried. That way the picture is more complete and enables researchers to connect with the otherwise location of a particular deceased individual.
