There is so much new with Mike, that even a few web pages couldn't hold it all. But, let's get to it.
In June 1997, (yes, that's about 4 months ago), I got married to Jennifer Gygi, the love of my life. It's been a happy four months, and I love her more every day.
We're now living in West Valley, in a neighborhood full of little kids, homeless people, a possible ganghouse across the street, and of course, the three bars on the main road. Nearby, we can enjoy the occasional Grizzlies game at the E-Center, and maybe even an occasional concert. It's not exactly what I'd call posh, but it is home for now. Somehow, I'm sure our kids will think the exact same things as we do when we hear the phrase "I had to walk to school, in the snow, 30 miles uphill, BOTH WAYS".
In other news, I have begun a marketing internship at Access Software, where I am responsible for market research, including the creation of surveys, gathering information for the company website, and soon to be helping manage the company store. That leads to another newsworthy item. I am no longer studying medicine, but have instead switched to business. I am hoping to graduate in about 2 years with a B.S. in Accounting. Hopefully I'll then be able to find a good job, and bring in some cash.
As part of our honeymoon, Jen and I went to Prague, undoubtedly the most romantic city on the planet. We want to go back so much. My personal favorite memory of Prague was the hour-long nap on the banks of the Moldau with river with Jen resting her head on my stomach.
School has begun again at the University of Utah. I'm taking Management 101, Accounting 261, Communications 101, and Statistics 239. I'm doing okay, but I'll know for sure after the first round of midterm results come back. Hopefully I'll get a 4.0 this quarter.
Among the new things I've learned recently, I learned how to fix the axle on our car, after I snapped it while driving to school one day. I learned to change the brakes, and how cold it gets while waiting for the bus in the morning.
Jen is doing well. She's working for a microbiology lab, and is considering going back to graduate school. She devours Robert Ludlum novels, and cooks some excellent food. She's recently been called as the Personal Progress leader for the Young Women's Group in our ward, and will be busy with that. She might not know it yet, but I'm planning on taking her skiing as soon as there's enough snow out there. And I'm hoping that she'll be really wowed with her Christmas present that I'm in the process of acquiring. We'll just have to see. She'd be better at telling all that's going on with her.
So, until this gets updated again, it's Oct. 19th, and all is well.
