Assignment #4
COUNTDOWN LEADER part 1
Limitations:
1. Open Final Cut Pro by double
clicking on the alias in the Dock.
2. Load settings
A. Final Cut Pro: Easy Setup:DV-NTSC .
B. Final Cut Pro: System Settings: Scratch Disk: click on Set button
and lead it to your project folder. When you start a new project create
a new folder. Every time you open your project or start a new project you must check the Scratch Disk setting because it will default into the folder of last person who used this computer.
C. If it is a new project name your project: (File: Save Project As: (your projects Name).
3. Find and Import the Color Countdown in Class
Countdown Master folder (on one of the Scratch Disk hard drives).
Use this clip from the first frame of Picture Start (set as
an in point) to the single frame of 2 (set as an out point -include
the 2) onto the time line V1a and A1.
4. Double click on the Color Countdown to open it in a Viewer and set in and out points. Move (Drag) the Color countdown onto the Timeline so you can place 50 seconds of black (slug) of your sequence. Close your viewer.
5. Open a new viewer (Window:Viewer). In the bottom right hand corner of the Viewer window is a button Generators pop-up selector (it looks like a frame of film with an A in it). Click on it and then select slug (Black without audio). Set an out point on the viewer a 5 seconds. Drag the slug into your Browser and rename it Black.
Drag the Black onto the Timeline and place it in front of the color countdown clip.
5. Capture one of your sound f/xs ( your best from Assignment
#1 or shoot a new one) and put this clip after the count down.
Put 2 seconds of black minus one frame (59 frames) between the number 2 and
your sound f/x.
6. Cut (using the razor blade) the countdown into segments (8, 7, 6, 5, 4, and 3)., "Picture Start, " and the number 2 are only one
or two frames long each.
7. Close and Save your project into your
folder on the scratch drive. Make sure both your project
and your sound effect clip are in your folder.
8. Now go out and shoot footage for your countdown leader.
Shoot a different idea (or sequence) for each number. Keep in mind
time is moving--illustrate this movement in time. This footage can
be edited together later (it can be more than just one shot per number).
Make sure each shot has at least 10 seconds of footage before and after the
section you are planing to use. Be creative in what you shoot, push
the edges.
9. Capture six different clips or sequences of clips--a different
idea/shot (or sequence) for each number. This footage can be edited
together (it can be more than just one shot per number).
10. Move the your new clips onto the Timeline
on V2 directly above each number on V1 of the Timeline
( the numbers in the color countdown ar not all exactly 1 second long
so you will need to make your clips the same length as the number.
11. Every clip you use should have audio (leave the beep on
the 2 clip).
12. Create a title with your name.
Put 3 seconds of your title on V2 of the timeline before your first
number. Fade in your title for 1 second using the toggle clip Keyframes and overlays as demonstrated in class.
13. Put 5 seconds of Black after your sound effect (#5).
14. Render whatever is necessary, so it runs smoothly. Save
your in your folder on scratch disk.
