Assignment #1
A Symphony for Sound F/Xs and the Human Face.

Objects, Sounds, and Movements by Carl Turton 2003
Limitations:
1.   Using Final Cut Pro and the only the facial sound F/Xs that we recorded in class:
A)   Create one minute symphony.
1) Find Final Cut Pro HD on the computer. My suggestion is use HD in the library because it is on all the macs. Use Find (click on the desktop and the zf) to search for it on the hard drive.

2) Open Final Cut and set up your preferences: Easy Setup DV-NTSC (720X480 / 30fps / 48kHz / 16 bit / stereo);  and set the Scratch Disc.

3) Save your project in folder that you set up as your project Scratch Disc.  Call it "your name F/Xs."

4) Import the Facial F/X file that we shot in class. Use only the sounds and images that we recorded in class in the Class sound f/x file on the server
(It's in my Public folder on the server
fileserver.artstech.utah.edu/ Artstech_Professors/maxwell/Public)

5) Double click on the file in the Browser to open it in the Viewer.

6) Set In and Out points and then drag it onto the timeline, repeat as needed.

a) Set up the rhythm visually as well as with the audio.

b) Use no special visual effects, just cuts.

c) Multiple layers of Audio (mixed).

d) Don't forget that the silences are as important as the moments with sounds, you need to fill the silent moments with image (it could just be the background without anyone in frame) and ambient sound.

2) Save your project and move it to your folder on the fine arts server or burn it to the F/Xs disk as a session.  We will use these in class next week.
