Experience: B.A. in Communications from Brigham Young University, Provo UT 1993. MSM Outreach Coordinator. Utah AIDS Foundation, Salt Lake City Utah, 1996-1998. Ethnic Health Coordinator. Utah Department of Health, Salt Lake City Utah, 1998-present.

 

Experience: B.A. in Psychology from Western Oregon University. M.S. in Health Promotion from Purdue University.

Help Offered: I have worked in the field of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Education for the last 4 years. I have experience in outreach, community level, and group level interventions with communities at risk & minorities communities. I am also a harm reductionist. I have some knowledge of programs and interventions that work and that have been proven successful in other areas of the country.
I've made personal relationships with individuals that are key players in the HIV prevention work in Utah, minority communities, & other community based organizations working with at risk individuals in Utah and&across the nation. If you need to be linked with any of these individuals, I will do my best to help you out. I've written CDC prevention grants, and Utah Department of Health request for proposals. I've also spoken at three national HIV/AIDS Prevention conferences about programs I've developed in Utah. I speak Spanish, English (I hope), & American Sign Language. I have a conversational background in Portuguese.

 

Help Offered: Courses taught: stress management, healthy lifestyles, and death and dying. Research areas: pain management, behavioral medicine, stress management.

Help Wanted: I don't know the U of U. I might need some help getting around. I will start school officially in January, so I will be needing a study partner for statistics then.

FYI: I've wanted to play the violin since I was a kid. But back then I failed music lessons and I turned away from it. At the beginning of this year, I bought myself a violin, & got a teacher. Today, I can play twinkle, twinkle little star, & a repertoir (is that how you spell that?) of 18 children & pretty easy songs.
