NATIONAL RESEARCH SERVICE AWARD (NRSA) STIPEND INCREASE

Effective with all awards made on or after October 1, 1998, the following annual
stipend levels apply to all individuals receiving support through institutional
or individual National Research Service Awards (NRSA), including the Minority
Access to Research Career (MARC) and Career Opportunities in Research (COR)
programs. These awards are all made under the authority of Section 487 of the
Public Health Service Act.
The new stipends are as follows:

THESE STIPEND LEVELS ARE EFFECTIVE ONLY FOR AWARDS MADE WITH FY 1999 FUNDS.
Retroactive adjustments or supplementation of stipends with NRSA funds for awards
made prior to October 1, 1998 is not permitted. Stipend level adjustments can
be made only on the award date of the fellowship or the appointment date of the
trainee on awards made with FY 1999 funds.

Effective October 1, 1996, the following annual stipend levels apply to all individuals receiving support through Institutional or Individual NRSA grants made with FY 1997 and subsequent fiscal year funds.
