Hartmann Psychology 326 Spring, 1998 Social & Personality Development Hints for Your Extra-credit Notebook Your notebook is your friend; it is one method of individualizing the class for yourself. Your notebook includes all of the "extra credit" work that you perform during the quarter, with the exception of extra credit received for editing. Your notebook is your major method of tracking the following: -- Additional class-relevant reading that you might undertake and comment upon (in addition to text and presentation or research paper reading). Note, credit is given only for reading which is accompanied by commentary. -- Newspaper or magazine articles you might clip and comment upon. Please include the article and your commentary for credit; relate articles to specific class material, please. -- Cartoons relevant to the class content you might find. Please include a brief description of what subject the cartoon is relevant for. Bonus credit given if I find the cartoons deserving of being copied to be used as an overhead for subsequent classes. -- Extensive and detail evaluations and commentaries on individual lectures. [I have found these to be very helpful in the past.] -- Artwork, or anything else that seems relevant to the class and interesting to you (e.g., letters to legislatures regarding development and social policy). If you conduct some activity related to social and personality development, tell me about it in your notebook. If you are unsure that an activity is deserving of credit, check with me ahead of time. Don’t include exams, regular notes, or other similar material either from this, or from another class. Notebooks, of course, are to be handed in, and are not to exceed 20 pages in length. The following sample evaluation form should help you prepare your extra-credit notebook.
