• "I don't care if any of my grandchildren are as ugly as a mud fence, I tell them all that I love them!"
• "If you play in the fire, you'll pee in the bed." One day she got tongue-tied and said, "If you pee in the fire, you'll play in the bed!"
• When asked why she was sitting in the middle of the auditorium (at her 90th birthday party) she replied, "The chair smiled at my bum, and I sat down..."
