As an avid hiker and rock climber, I had often heard of Zion National Park in southern Utah, and its famous narrows hike. It wasn't until the summer of 1998, however, that I was finally able to experience this amazing place. I loved it so much that I immediately began making plans for a return trip, both to the narrows and also to hike the many other trails in the park that I only got a hint of from trailhead signs. In May 1999 I made my return trip, but rather than leaving with my appetite satisfied as I had anticipated, I found that my longing to return to Zion was even greater; I discovered many new trails and got a glimpse of the incredible backcountry that I now hope to return and explore.
