I am a person who is interested in many different things. In high school I discovered that most students (at least at my high school) were encouraged to get involved within the first two years in some program or activity, be it a sports team or the band or a club or organization of some kind, and to stay with that activity to the exclusion of all else during the rest of their high school careers. This philosophy worked for many students, but I found that there were always too many things that I wanted to try, and too many things I had not yet done, to devote my life to one thing.
In my employment history, my most common reason changing jobs isn't money; it is because I reach a point where my job no longer challenges me to learn and improve, so the job no longer interests me. My solution to that problem has been to find a job where I have a lot of freedom and a lot of responsibility, a combination that encourages me to learn and think and experiment, and thus enjoy my work.
A friend challenged me to come up with a list of "things I like to do." Here is what I have come up with so far:
I'm really not a one-track person although to those who know me it may seem that way sometimes. I'm just one track in a lot of things - when I get on one thing it seems I like to immerse myself in it for a while, until it fades out and I find something new to immerse myself in.
