Pearson College Campus
This is an intensive three week program at the world renowned Lester
B. Pearson College. Students will enjoy the natural beauty of this campus
located at Pedder Bay, 29 km. from downtown Victoria. Students who attend
this program will have ample opportunity to use the waterfront (sailing,
kayaking, canoeing, visits to Race Rocks, and whale watching). Students
will also visit the Pearson College Astronomical Observatory.
Excursions include downtown Victoria (Butcharts Gardens, Royal British Columbia Museum, IMAX theatre, Parliament building tours, fireworks, shopping, and other local sites) and a trip to the city of Vancouver where students can visit the Science Museum, Vancouver Art Gallery, Gastown, Stanley Park, Vancouver Aquarium, and Capilano Suspension Bridge & Park.
Program II (July 4 to July 30)
St. Margaret’s School (July
4 to July 16)
Students will partake in two weeks of classes and residence at the
prestigious St. Margaret’s School. This school is only 5 minutes from downtown
Victoria yet resides in a protected 22 acre campus. Similar to program
I, students participate in a rich academic and activities curriculum supported
by the best Sony language laboratory technology, computing centre, and
recreational facilities.
Homestay (July 17 to July 30)
After two weeks of intensive ESL instruction, students will be prepared
to join a Canadian host family. Classes will continue at St. Margaret’s
School during the day while evenings and weekends will be spent with the
host family.
Excursions include outings with host families and day trips to Vancouver (Science Museum, Vancouver Art Gallery, Gastown, Stanley Park, Vancouver Aquarium, and Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park) and Pearson College where students will use the waterfront facilities (sailing, kayaking, canoeing, visits to Race Rocks, and whale watching).
Program III (Aug. 07 to Aug. 28)
Pearson College Campus
Same as program I. Excursions include day trips up island to Chemainus,
Coombs, Qualicum Falls, Rathtrevor Beach, & Cathedral Grove; and a
day trip to downtown Victoria (see program I).
Program IV (July 4 to Aug. 28)
St. Margaret’s School/ Homestay/ Pearson College
This two month program offers the best variety and opportunity to maximize
English acquisition. Students will spend two weeks at St. Margaret’s School
(see program II); three weeks with a Canadian family; and three weeks at
Lester B. Pearson College (see program I, III). In this intensive program,
students will progress rapidly through the academic levels with a possibility
of obtaining a diploma at the conclusion of the program.
Excursions for program IV combine those offered in programs II and III with an option of visiting Saltspring Island instead of downtown Victoria.
