Academic Program:
Our academic program follows
the international baccalaureate (IB) language curriculum and prepares students
for the TOEFL exam. The levels are: Level 1-beginners (ab initio); Level
2-intermediate (English B standard); Level 3-advanced (English B higher);
and Level 4-University Entrance (English A2). The program incorporates
the latest Sony Language laboratory technology.
Levels
Level 1--Ab Initio
Level one is designed for the student beginning English as a Second Language
(ESL). Students learn basic communicative skills and essential grammar.
Emphasis
is placed on speaking English at a rudimentary level.
Level 2--English B Standard
Level two is for the student that has had formal introduction to the English
Language. Basic essay writing, enriched conversational skills, and
extensive vocabulary are gained at this level.
Level 3--IB English B Higher
Level three is for the advanced student that has several years of instruction
in the
language. Advanced grammar is examined with a full complement of essay
writing.
Special focus is placed on the TOEFL and TESL exams to prepare students
for entrance to North American Universities.
Level 4--IB English A
Level four is for the bilingual student. This is an advanced program which
focuses
on literature, the mastering of different texts, presenting written
and oral literary
commentaries, and proficient essay writing skills. With successful
completion of this level,
students will be well prepared for first year university. Students
who pass this level receive a diploma from the school. Typical toefl scores
at this level range from 600 to 650.
