A Big Splash in the Art World!

Through the talented hands of naturalist Ernie Flynn, cherished memories come alive in graceful wood carvings. Each masterpiece represents over 20 hours of precise dexterity. Careful attention to unique details, along with finishing touches, assures the trophy catch will be remembered for years to come.

Nature is preserved in these prized carvings with the aid of full-color photos, or from memory of an actual beauty. This range of accomplishment includes pieces exhibited at the Utah State Fair, where two of his entries won Best of Show and 1st Place in their respective categories. He also donated an aquarium setting for the Division of Wildlife Resources exhibit, representing over 150 hours of talent. This unique showcase depicted a gathering of rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, with a large mouth bass close by.

Ernie was raised in the small town of Glendale, Utah. His earliest memories of childhood include the study of fish by pole, along the banks of a local river. His first painting was sold while just a Junior at Valley High School in Orderville, Utah. This was followed by an art scholarship offer to Dixie College.

He is now a husband, father of four, and a skilled craftsman. Though his preference is to work with the texture of wood, a sketch book can often be found nearby to record illustrations of the world around him. These experiences have given his hands the seasoning to breathe life into each sculpture.

Some fishermen prefer to catch & release, while others enjoy eating their prey. However, all enjoy recounting the big one, or how it got away. These hand-crafted originals provide a realism, without the smell. Mounts range from a simple wall plaque, to natural settings. Let Ernie hook a "wooden tale" for you.
