Take out the throttle slider (careful, this is greasy!) Note the paper I use to hold the weights in tight.

 

 

 

 

 

Next, locate the clips on either side of the tension spring retainer (in the middle of the joystick base) and use your fingers to unclip the two sides (circled in red). Usually works best to do one side, then the other. Be careful that the spring tension doesn't pop the whole assembly in your face!

Note: The yellow circle marks an arrow stamped in the spring housing, which should be pointed away from the throttle (to the left in this picture) when you reassemble.

 

 

 

Keep the spring and retainer together, in the proper orientation. These will be covered in grease, which should be clean. If it's dark in color, clean it off and re-coat with new grease during assembly.

 

Below the spring is the black retaining washer. Remove this as well, noting the orientation for assembly. The yellow circle marks an arrow stamped in the washer which points the same direction as the arrow on the spring housing above (away from the throttle slider).
