The Health Education Association of Utah was established in 1983 to provide professional development and quality opportunities to all individuals involved in the practice of Health Education and to assist students and other individuals preparing to become health educators.

The following focus areas will serve as valuable resources:

Professional Development

  • Seminars and workshops will be held to provide continuing education, and updated information.

  • A student conference is held each year to familiarize students with the wide array of concepts, positions, and other information associated with health education. This conference involves Health Education students from the U of U, WSU, USU, and BYU.

  • A speakers bureau is constantly being expanded. This bureau provides members of HEAU with a list of professionals in Health Education who are willing to share their expertise through speaking engagements.

Networking and Referrals

  • Technical consultation is available through many members of HEAU. Conversing with qualified health educators can provide accurate and appropriate information and can help students become involved in the heath education community. A list of Health Education professionals will be published by HEAU in a resource guide.

  • There are opportunities to serve on HEAU committees. These committees include: Legislative, Membership, Publicity, Member Services, and Professional Development.

  • Many internships are offered through members and agencies who belong to HEAU. Involvement in HEAU can aid in obtaining meaningful internships and employment.

Workshops

Workshops sponsored by HEAU are designed to promote health education responsibilities and build professional skills. Additionally, many workshops give C.H.E.S. recertification credits.

Newsletter

A newsletter containing the most recent internship and employment opportunities is available on a monthly basis. The newsletter also contains reports on the latest health issues, scientific research, and legislative developments.
