Admission Procedure


ADMISSION:

Acceptance for admissions as a  major to the Health Promotion and Education Undergraduate program is contingent upon the completion of  four prerequisite courses and submission of the application form with transcripts.


APPLICATION PROCESS:  A student may declare the major as soon as the four prerequisite courses are completed. 

1. Completion of the Department Application Form. (Form can be obtained from Department Office (HPERN 215)

2. Current transcripts from University of Utah (including summary of transfer credits) or institutions presently attending or an updated DARS report must be submitted with the application form.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:  A student must earn a C grade or better in the four prerequisite courses.  The four courses are:

        H EDU 1010          Healthy Lifestyles
        H EDU 3050          Community Health Issues
        WRIT   2010          Intermediate College Writing
        MATH 1070           Statistics course  (Not required for School Track)

The student will be expected to take an average of  7-9 specified hours each semester.  The required courses for the major are offered in a limited sequential order and require two years for the Community track;  three semesters for the Provider and EMS tracks, and one year for the School track.
