Introduction:
According to the SPA, Piracy is the unauthorized use of software.
Types of piracy include:
1) purchasing a single user license and loading it onto multiple computers or a server ("softloading");
2) making, distributing and/or selling copies that appear to be from an authorized source ("counterfeiting");
3) renting software without permission from the copyright holder;
4) distributing and/or selling software that has been "unbundled," or separated, from the products with which it was intended to have been "bundled"; and
5) downloading copyrighted software from the Internet or bulletin boards without permission from the copyright holder.

Why I wrote this page:
I Wrote this page in November 1998 while attending the University of Utah. I had to do a research paper for Writing 2010, and decided piracy would be an interesting topic.
To my dismay, there wasn't really a site that had all of the information I was looking for. There wasn't one with good links to articles, organizations, and everything else necessary to do a good paper. Information in "academic journals" was hard to find, and there was very little of it. Information from search engines was very disorganized and incomplete. And the links from anti-piracy organizations only gave one side of the story...No one would give links to the pirate groups themselves.
By writing this page, I hope someone won't have to go through all of the trouble I did, to find the links and information necessary, to be able to write an informative and well done paper...
