Abstract
The thesis argues that although the advantages of piracy are attractive, the disadvantages are too great to let piracy continue and grow the way it is. The thesis also argues that contrary to what many of the uninformed pirates believe as to why these types of piracy are legal, or why it should be, most of their arguments are invalid. The paper gives a history of computer piracy and the rapid growth it is having due to the Internet. The paper explains three main types of computer piracy; warez, mp3, and emulation. The paper presents several of the pirate's arguments, then gives reasons why they are invalid. The paper concludes by showing a few possible solutions that may help to control the rapid increase of piracy.
